{"id":705,"date":"2014-01-26T13:31:05","date_gmt":"2014-01-26T18:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raz-family.ca\/RunKristi\/?p=705"},"modified":"2014-01-26T13:31:05","modified_gmt":"2014-01-26T18:31:05","slug":"a-lesson-in-buying-shoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raz-family.ca\/RunKristi\/?p=705","title":{"rendered":"A Lesson in Buying Shoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<dl class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" id=\"attachment_534\" style=\"width: 650px;\">\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\"><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>Back in the fall I bought my favourite shoes ever:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_534\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/raz-family.ca\/RunKristi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/p_shoes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-534\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-534\" alt=\"My happy shoes :)\" src=\"http:\/\/raz-family.ca\/RunKristi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/p_shoes-300x224.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raz-family.ca\/RunKristi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/p_shoes-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/raz-family.ca\/RunKristi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/p_shoes-624x466.jpg 624w, https:\/\/raz-family.ca\/RunKristi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/p_shoes.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-534\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My happy shoes \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I loved the colour and more importantly I loved the fit of these Aisics. \u00a0i bought them on a Saturday and I ran 32km in them on the Sunday. \u00a0Knowing I had bought my dream shoes I figured I may as well pick up a second pair since the price had been lowered. \u00a0The next chance I had, I picked up another pair, different colour, but exactly the same shoes.<\/p>\n<p>I spent the fall running in my first pair and they never failed me, including during my first marathon. \u00a0Once in a while I grabbed the second pair to use for a short run. \u00a0Somehow the left shoe never felt quite right but I just kept putting it down to it being a little stiff and needing to be broken in. \u00a0A week ago I did my first long run in the second pair and completely destroyed my big toenail. \u00a0Now, we all know black and missing toenails are a badge of honour in running. \u00a0While the rest of the world may think it is disgusting, for runners it almost a rite of passage. \u00a0But this one just pissed me off. \u00a0I knew it was because of the shoe and not because of any great running accomplishments that I had sustained this injury. \u00a0But for the life of me I could not figure out why I was having such a problem when my other pair was so perfect.<\/p>\n<p>Finally I thought to compare my right shoe (which was fitting fine) and the left shoe that was causing the problem. \u00a0When I put them together for comparison I discovered that the left shoe, while labelled as the correct size, is in fact a half size smaller. \u00a0That half size combined with winter socks and going down hills, makes quite a difference in how a running shoe fits. \u00a0Needless to say, I am more than a little irritated. \u00a0I am long past the 30 day return policy, nor do I have a receipt. \u00a0Regardless, I have emailed the manager of the store and am hoping to hear back this week as to what to do next. \u00a0Right now all I know is I have learned a new lesson;
