But that more open schedule allows for procrastination and all my life I have been rather good at putting things off for just a little longer until somehow there is no time left.

So today I knew I wanted to do two runs. My 10 year old and I have registered for Ottawa Race Weekend in May and we will be doing the 5k together. He has been doing some cross country skiing and snowshoeing to get fit and today was his first day out running since the fall. I was motivated to get out there with him and we had a great run together. He was thrilled that he ran 3k without needing to walk and I was thrilled with his positive, “I can do this”, attitude. But the fact remained I still needed to get out a do a bit of a run on my own. When we came home I stayed in my running gear and thought no worries, just have to get out for some hill work. Then I made my first mistake…yes, I sat down. If I had just left it at that, all might have been good, but then I picked up a book. Reading a book on a couch on a Sunday afternoon can only lead to one thing for me; I dozed off. So much for heading right out again and doing hill work. By the time I woke up I realized there was not point driving out to the hill I was going to run. I managed to fit in a 5.5k run on the slightly rolling hills on my road, but it really wasn’t the workout it should have been. I guess in the long run, if there is going to be a little “crazy” in your week (see last post) then there has to be some time to squeeze in a little “lazy” as well. Maybe tomorrow I will hit something in between!

In my last post I wrote about my crazy Thursdays and how much I enjoy them. Now it is confession time. On weekends, I am the complete opposite. I hear some runners talk about how they hate rest days and how they get antsy to be out again. I can picture myself feeling like that […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[1

post-65","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-running
["GET
