Today we hosted our first “race” on our property and by all accounts it was a great success. Evan did a large amount of the organizing and as a result rightfully earned the title of Race Director.<\/p>\n

A total of 28 kids (and many parents) ran the 1k cross country course through our woods and fields. By collecting money for entries ($1 per runner) and for raffle tickets, Evan finished the event with a plastic container filled with $119 to be donated to the Ottawa Humane Society. We were thrilled with everyone’s generosity! We were also so happy that so many parents took the time to bring their kids to this event. Between the money collected and the smiling faces of kids enjoying a beautiful day in the great outdoors, the event surpassed our expectations. This could very well become an annual Halloween event!<\/p>\n

Since I did not get permission to post kids’ pictures on the blog (though each runner will be getting an email from me soon with their race photo), I have limited the photos below to ones of my kids or distance shots.<\/p>\n
